Sobia Kamran
I studied Broadcast Journalism and Islamic Studies at The University of Texas at Austin and graduated in December 2010. In the hustle and bustle of life, I am currently looking for a job that doesn't exclude passion, but until I don't find the job of my dreams I will be dedicating all my time to blogging for my beautiful audience. I recently got married as well and am enjoying the life of living as soul mates instead of one person. I love to write, especially about hijabs, fashion and my day-to-day faux pas! I love mixing and matching hijabs and just coming up with new things! So, if you're interested in keeping up with Sobia, then this is the right place!
FAQ
- Why was this website created?
I was running out of steam or drive to continue to wear hijab. I wanted to find a place I could release my thoughts and recollect them. I realized I am more likely to appreciate my hijab as a gift if I just began thinking out loud. And the only way to realize this was a gift was to share it and to help people learn a thing or two from it.
- Why was it named reveiling yourself?
A couple of people thought up of the true meaning behind this blog. It's all about shedding your inhibitions and taking the front seat in order to express yourself. The pun was intended, because this site is very much about revealing your true self while reveiling yourself in a time when most people prefer shedding clothes. I use this website as a way for people to get to know you and me without a piece of fabric standing between us.
- What is the perspective's section about?
It is a way to hear you and your perspective. You can be anybody- sister, brother, mother, father, daughter, son, married, single, teenager or a college student! You just have to be someone who wants to express themselves on a certain issue or experience in life. Feel free to submit and see it posted online!
- Who is The Narrator?
The narrator is a voice that converses with me in my head. I also believe that the narrator is God. I feel like he summarizes my life everyday after I wake up and before I go to sleep like episodes of Grey's Anatomy.
- Who is Mr. Rogers?
Mr. Rogers is my beloved husband. His answers to most of our situations in life whether it is spirtual, physical, social, psychological or just daily, always sounds like it was stolen from Mr. Rogers show. I will confess I never have watched Mr. Rogers, because all I ever remember seeing him do when I flipped through channels was standing against a fence with his green sweater on. Anyhow, as you read the conversations that take place between Mr. Rogers and me, you will realize this on your own that he does sound like a character from PBS children's shows. All of his answers are very dreamy and supportive. A supportive husband, pfft.
- Who is The BAT?
The BAT is my mother. I refer to her as the bat because when she turned hijabi she also took the liberty to convert to becoming a gothic, not really. But, really, she started wearing all black because it was the easiest get up. She drives a black car. And when she is not driving, she is flapping her wings like a bat in everyone's business in our home.
